The University of Vienna processes the following categories of personal data within the scope of the data processing in question:

If the provision of personal data for this data processing is provided for by law, contractually required or necessary for the conclusion of a contract, the failure to provide the data may mean that the obligations to be fulfilled by the University of Vienna towards you cannot be met.
If the data was collected by the Event Management of the University of Vienna.
The data collected about you will not be forwarded to recipients outside the University of Vienna.
The data will be processed with the software of the company Centium Software, 60 Brandl Street, Eight Mile Plains, Queensland, Australia, used by the Event Management of the University of Vienna (order processing contract according to Art 28 DSGVO).
After the research objective has been achieved, these data should be deleted, at the latest after 6 months.
As a data subject, you have the following rights towards from the University of Vienna

- termination of further processing if the legal basis of the processing is an overriding legitimate interest of the principal or the data are processed for scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes.

Photographs at the conference
Parts of the conference in July 2026 may be photographed. The images may be used on the website to promote the event on the RC21 2026 conference webpage and for any publication. If you do not want photos to be taken of you, please approach the photographer to not photograph you.
Encryption with https
We use HTTPS (“secure hypertext transfer protocol”) to securely transmit data on the Internet.
This means that the entire process of transmitting data from your browser to our web server is secure.
Thus, we have introduced an additional layer of security and comply with data protection by design (Article 25(1) GDPR). We use TLS (Transport Layer Security), an encryption protocol for secure data transmission on the internet, to protect confidential data.
You can recognize this data transmission security feature by the use of the “https” scheme in our internet address.
Web-Hosting Provider
We use STRATO, a web hosting provider, for our website. The service provider is the German company STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. You can find out more about the data that is processed through the use of STRATO in the privacy policy at https://www.strato.de/datenschutz/.
Use of Third-Party Services
We use third-party services on our website, such as Google Maps, to display interactive content and improve user experience. These services are provided by external providers who may collect and process personal data, including your IP address and device information, when you access or interact with the embedded content.
Legal Basis
The use of such third-party content is based on your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Without your consent, no data is transmitted to these external services.
Google Maps
If you choose to load the Google Maps service by clicking the corresponding button, your browser will establish a direct connection to Google’s servers. Google may process your data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy.
